Blocking Threshold
Blocking more than 50 apps or websites is not supported, but there are exceptions. If you see this warning, you may experience issues like blocking not working. The limit applies to the sum of all active blocking sessions (not just a single blocking session).
How do I fix the blocking not working?
You can ensure blocking works by following the rules listed above. However, they could be confusing to understand at the beginning. As a result, to get back to a good state:
Delete all blocking sessions except one
Ensure the one blocking session has 10-30 selected apps or websites
After you confirm that this correctly works, you can now start adding extra blocking sessions while being mindful of the rules above. Refocus supports over 15+ simultaneous blocking sessions!
What are the exceptions?
You can block more than 50 apps or websites if you select only “categories” (ex. “Social,” “Entertainment” or “Shopping & Food”).
If you have Refocus Pro, you can use allowlists and block all apps & websites except the ones you selected.
Examples that work:
Selecting only “categories” and not individual apps or websites:
Selecting "All Apps & Categories."
Selecting any set of categories (ex. "Social," "Entertainment" and "Shopping & Food").
In one session, selecting any set of categories, and then in another session selecting less than 50 apps or websites.
Examples that don't work:
Selecting more than 50 apps or websites without using any categories.
Selecting more than 50 apps or websites across multiple active sessions.
In the same session, selecting a set of categories, and then selecting only a few apps or websites in a specific category (rather than all the apps & websites in the category).
Why do these limitation exist?
Refocus uses Apple's Screen Time technology. We are limited by what it supports. This limit applies to both Free and Pro users.
